Writing
It takes a while. There’s a lot of stuff to consider, and a lot of stuff you miss the first go-around. That’s why we have friends who don’t judge writing too critically. They help us get through the difficult spots and ask us more questions than we can ask ourselves. This is how we finish writing: through others. Not others writing for us, but helping us craft the crazy idea we have by helping us zero in on what we really want to accomplish. I added 200 words to my most recent “baby”. It’s now 1,800 words but it’s no where near done. But that’s fine, I’m ready for a journey with some friends. #writing
The Illusion of Safety.
Three times in a row. Maybe I’ll get the chops Dustin and Teppei have through effusion.
→ TYLER MILLS: HEY! HEY! HEY! LOOK OVER HERE!
Sweet reflective jams. Will be featured on 91.5FM WUML Lowell from 2-4PM this Thursday! This music has inspired my co-hosts and I to do an acoustic show!
Today:
I explained to a friend of mine why I decline listening to my favorite band of all time (Therefore I Am) for all but two days out of my typical 365-day calendar. My rationale goes something like this: 1. They’re no longer a band. 2. I saw them around 25 times while they were a band, which I am forever grateful for. 3. Their gift of great, emotive music to me should be cherished as such. In this form of remembrance, I feel it’s only appropriate to listen to them on my birthday and one other day out of the year (this also means I have to listen to ever piece of material they ever released in that day). 4. Losing something I felt so close to makes me sad. There’s no use in being sad when there are current things that can make you happy. 5. It motivates me to find something to fill that proverbial gap; whether it be music or a hobby of mine, I can call upon the same passion I have for Therefore I Am in other things in my life and I think that’s important.
Equivalence
We’re only scratching the surface, you see Of what really separates you and I We want the same things, the same glee That fleeting expectation of reality We take life for granted, you and I All the hands are extended for our benefit I’m certain we take advantage, you and I Of moments of weakness and charity When all is done we should give it all “You only live once” I heard him say So instead of taking advantage of others Instead of wasting daylight to midnight Only to sleep restlessly to sunrise Let’s talk not about our differences Let’s not fight about minutia Let us battle for today To make tomorrow better We are the same, you and I +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ A poem by yours truly because I don’t want to go to bed.
